When the staff member at the post office said, ‘for security reasons I need to ask you what’s in the box’, I felt a little sheepish. When I saw the postage amount, I began to feel silly at the extravagance. As the parcel was added to the pile of outgoing post, I worried it was too leftfield.
I sure thoughtfulness is my love language. All the small things - my eldest son (mid teens) almost missed his bus in the autumn because he came running back home to tell me there were whooper swans flying over the house. Nothing could have meant more to me 🤍
Ciara, Thank you for your fantastic newsletter. I started reading it because of the name. My maiden name is Gorse. I have come to enjoy your writings so very much! Keep up the great work!
This is so lovely! Little things really can mean so much. Your food pics are just gorgeous—I especially loved the photo with the sturdy ceramic mug and the macaron on the pretty china plate!
Thank you for reminding us that baking is thoughtful. Sending food in boxes to others is even more so. When I was in college a girl down the hall would receive baked goods from home in Tennessee. One box was filled with fried peach pies, which didn’t ship well and looked horrible once they arrived, but that taste of peaches and sugar was something all these decades later I can’t forget. It tasted like home and every one of us was hungry for it. ❤️
